ICT Enabling Scholarships for 2009

Value $3,000*

(*increase from $2,000 subject to UQ Senate approval)


In view of an impending shortage of ICT graduates, The University of Queensland has taken the initiative to encourage and enable school-leavers to join its programs leading to careers in the Information and Communications Technology industry.

Eligibility

A significant number of these scholarships will be made available depending upon 2008 year 12 results to Australian Domestic Students who apply for and take up a Government-funded place for entry to the following UQ degree programs (or dual degree variants) in semester 1 2009:

  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Multimedia Design
  • Bachelor of Engineering (ICT-related fields)

Application and Award Procedures

  1. Either, (a) complete the simple online application form, or (b) download the paper-based application form and fax to UQ on 07 3365 4999 or post to ICT Enabling Scholarships, School of ITEE, The University of Queensland 4072
  2. Apply through QTAC for a place in one of the UQ BInfTech, BMultMedDes or BE degrees
  3. Upon acceptance of an offer of a place at UQ, applicants will be advised of their eligibility for award of a scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants on the basis of academic achievement indicated by Queensland OP Score or equivalent.
  4. Enrol at UQ for semester 1 2009 including the following courses:
      CSSE1001 Introduction to Software Engineering I
    and one of
      ELEC1000 Introduction to Electrical Engineering
    INFS1200 Introduction to Information Systems
      MATH1061 Discrete Mathematics
    MMDS1400 Introduction to Web Design
  5. The scholarship will be paid as soon as possible after 31 March 2009 to students who continue the meet the above conditions by that date.
