 Internships
The School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) offers internships, i.e. supervision to students who are seeking to undertake projects as part of their studies at other institutions without enrolment as UQ students. Other student visitors seeking a formal record via a UQ Studies Report of their attendance/assessment should enrol as UQ students in the relevant program and pay the associated fees. UQ International web site.

If you are seeking an Internship within the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, on the basis of an individual application and not an institutional application, then please ensure that please ensure you make contact with an ITEE academic initially.  Please utilise UQResearchers (http://www.uq.edu.au/uqresearchers/) for academics in your research field within the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

ITEE Interns (i.e. student visitors who do not require formal enrolment at UQ) pay a "bench fee" of $1,100 per month, including GST - applicable to both international and domestic visitors, which provides access to UQ computer and network systems and the UQ library.  You would also be required to pay your travel costs to and from Australia and your living expenses while here. We do not accept interns for less than a 3 month period.

Waivers of the bench fee have been arranged with some institutions. Please contact yours to see if it is one of them. Unfortunately, we have no available funding to offer subsidised internships outside these arrangements.

If you are able to find an academic host who is prepared to supervise your project, your host must initiate our internal process. You need to provide via email your CV and details of your research interest to international@itee.uq.edu.au once you have confirmed supervision.

We offer two kinds of internships, each requiring a different visa category

1. Occupational Trainees (e.g. required complete an industrial placement to meet documented home university requirements without being enrolled). *Please note: We do not accept project proposals for periods shorter than 3 months.

2. Visiting Scholars (eg visiting university staff or visiting research higher degree students).
