 National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) Scholarship in Information Technology or Software Engineering

 

 

 

 

THE NATIONAL ELECTRICITY MARKET MANAGEMENT COMPANY (NEMMCO) SCHOLARSHIP (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OR SOFTWARE ENGINEERING)

VALUE $ 7000

 

 

 

 The scholarship is open to students who -
(a) are domestic students as defined in the Fee Rules; and 
(b)  intend to study full-time in the year following the award of the scholarship in one of the
       following -
       (i)   the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering program in the field of software
              engineering; or
       (ii)  the final year of the Bachelor of Information Technology program; or
       (iii) a dual program including either of them; or
       (iv)  the Bachelor of Information Technology Honours program.

 

Payment of the scholarship is subject to enrolment in the program and continued satisfactory academic progress.

 

 The scholarship is awarded, at the discretion of the selection committee, to the applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by -
      (a)  academic achievement in their program to date; and
      (b)  an interest in software engineering or information technology, especially as it
             relates to the national electricity market sector; and
      (c)  personal qualities, including leadership potential; and
      (d)  such other evidence as may be deemed relevant to future success in the
             information technology or information engineering profession in the national    
             electricity market sector.

 

NEMMCO may offer the recipient thesis mentoring in the final year (Honours for Bachelor of Information Technology) and vacation employment at sites and for periods determined by NEMMCO in consultation with the Head, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.  If the vacation employment placement is outside the recipipent’s permanent place of residence, NEMMCO may pay, in addition to the scholarship, the cost of return travel to the site of vacation employment and reasonable living expenses.

 

The scholarship may not be held concurrently with another scholarship.

 

The scholarship may be deferred only with the approval of the Head, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

 

The duration of the scholarship is 1 year.

 

The value of the scholarship is $7,000.

 

NEMMCO may determine in May of every year whether the scholarship will be offered in the following year
