 GHD Scholarship - Electrical Engineering

GHD Pty Ltd Scholarship in Electrical Engineering

 

(Established in 2005 and maintained by an annual gift of $2,500 from GHD Pty Ltd to encourage a meritorious student in the Bachelor of Engineering program or Bachelor of Engineering Dual Degree program in the field of Electrical Engineering.)

 

1.                   The scholarship is awarded annually by Senate on the recommendation of the Head, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering;

 

2.                   To assist in the selection process, the Head, School of must establish a selection committee with representatives of the School Information Technology and Electrical Engineering in the majority, chaired by the Head, Electrical Engineering discipline or nominee, comprising members of the academic staff teaching in the Electrical Engineering discipline and representatives of GHD Pty Ltd.

 

3.                   The scholarship is open to students who –

 

(a)    have completed the first five semesters of the Bachelor of Engineering program or Bachelor of Engineering Dual Degree program in the plan of Electrical Engineering; and

(b)    are studying full-time; and

(c)    are enrolled in semester six; and

(d)    Intend to enter a further year of the program in the following year.

 

4.                   Payment of the award in semester seven is subject to continued satisfactory academic progress in semester six and enrolment in semester seven of the program.

 

5.                   The scholarship is awarded, at the discretion of the selection committee, to the applicant showing the greatest merit, as demonstrated by –

 

(a)    academic achievement during the first five semesters of the program;

(b)    personal qualities, including leadership potential; and

(c)    other evidence as may be deemed relevant to future success in the Electrical Engineering profession.

 

6.                   The recipient may be offered vacation employment for the duration of the scholarship at sites and for periods determined by GHD Pty Ltd in consultation with the Head, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

 

7.                   The scholarship may not be held concurrently with another scholarship or award.

 

8.                   The scholarship may be deferred only with the approval of the Head, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

 

9.                   The duration of the scholarship is one year.

 

10.               The value of the scholarship is $2,500.
