SAP Sponsored PhD Program (Domestic students eligible only)
SAP Research CEC Brisbane is currently establishing a Ph.D. program for students interested in undertaking a dissertation in an industrial research setting. SAP Research is the technology research department of SAP. It prepares the groundwork for future growth by acting as SAP’s trend scout and identifying worldwide emerging IT trends. SAP Research is researching and developing in strategically important SAP business areas as well as leveraging entrepreneurial inventive talent.
The program offers up to 3 positions per year, through the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), The University of Queensland (UQ).
Successful applicants will be working in a team of world-class researchers whereby they could spend some of the time at the SAP office. Interaction will be intensive and rewarding. It is a unique opportunity to build contacts in the industry as a stepping stone for a future career.
The program includes a three year financial package to the value of AU$29,892 per annum, and possibility of extension of six months and international travel.
Application Procedure
Applications are invited from Australian domestic students with high achievement in previous study, and demonstrable interest and potential in research. Applicants will be selected on merit through a rigorous selection process as outlined below.
1. Applicants must first ensure their eligibility for the PhD program before proceeding with the application process.
2. Prepare the initial application, which consists of the following
a. Research proposal: Research areas include business information systems, data management, integration technologies, business process management, semantic interoperability, knowledge management and security and trust. Applicants should consider applying only if their background and interests align with the given research areas;
b. Selection criteria form; and
c. Academic CV including list of publications, if any.
3. Submit of the above with a covering letter highlighting any further information that you may wish to convey, to the ITEE Postgraduate Office, with reference to SAP PhD Program.
4. The applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of ITEE Postgraduate Coordinator/s, prospective PhD advisory team, and SAP representatives.
5. Applicants successful in the first review may be invited for an interview.
6. Final notification of outcome will be sent to all applicants.

Successful applicants will then
have to formally apply to the University. The school will assist in this
process, however there is no guarantee of admission particularly if
eligibility criteria were not ensured (see point 1 above).
