Approval of Industry Certification courses for Credit

Overview

Within programs offered by the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, credit may be granted on the basis of industry certification.  Depending on the program and the provider of the certificate, a maximum of #2 units of non-list (free) elective credit may be given to students in the:

  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Information Technology (Interaction Design) [previously known as the Bachelor of Information Environments]
  • Bachelor of Multimedia Design
  • Master of Interaction Design [previously known as the Master of Information Environments]
  • Master of Information Technology

for the MCSE (W2000) and CISCO CCNA Certification courses, provided the certification remains current (with regard to the MS and CISCO regulations) and is provided by an Australian MCT Cert accredited trainer (in the case of MCSE) and CISCO Academy Training (in the case of CNAA).  Advanced standing would not be given for MSCE (NT).

Oracle DBA and MCSD may be given similar status to the CISCO CCNA and MCSE (W2000) but only when offered at the School of ITEE and after the initial CISCO CCNA and MCSE certification courses have been trialled.

The list of certificates and providers will be regularly reviewed and certificates must be current at the time of graduation.

Only certificates issued by approved providers will be accepted for credit.
