Dual degrees
If you enrol for a dual degree, you study for two degrees at the same time. Generally once you fulfil the requirements of the two degrees, you graduate with both. However, it is also possible to complete requirements for one degree and graduate, then finalise the second degree.
By enrolling in a dual degree, you complete two degrees in a much shorter time than it would take if you completed two separate degrees. The principle which makes this possible is that the free electives (optional courses) in one degree become the compulsory courses in the other degree and vice-versa.
A dual degree gives you the flexibility to study several areas of interest at once and to broaden career possibilities beyond graduation. Graduates with two degrees have a competitive edge in the work place because of the additional knowledge and skills they have acquired.

By proper choice of courses in your second degree, your dual degree can make you more employable.
Also, you can add a combination which helps you get into a cutting edge area, too big to fit into one degree. For example, if you do a dual with Science, you can position yourself as a researcher in bioinformatics.
To enrol in a dual degree, you need to be accepted into whichever has the higher entry requirement. If you arent accepted before you start, you have the option to prove yourself once you are here, by achieving a high enough grade point average (GPA) do be accepted after your first year. To make sure you dont lose time, start with the study plan for the dual both degrees, making sure that the compulsory courses for the second degree are allowed as electives in your first degree.
